notes:From 1863 to 1877, all the wards in the stake were consolidated into one ward (basically the same as the stake, but under the authority of a single bishop), with the former wards reorganized as "districts" of the ward. We are not generally considering the domains of pre-1877 regional presiding bishops as distinct units (especially where they coincide with a stake), but in this case it was occasionally called a ward and functioned more like one.
