description:A large and long-lived branch, by 1842 it was the center of all work on the East Coast, often with a resident apostle who oversaw immigration from Britain. By late 1841, it even warranted "a more complete organization" including both a complete presidency under L.R. Foster and a bishopric under Bishop John M. Bernhisel, but not a full stake organization. By the time Bernhisel left for Nauvoo in May 1843, he is no longer a bishop., and this is again a normal branch with a single leader, if a very large one.
