description: Jason Briggs organized a branch in 1843 at his relatives, the Higleys’ home. In February 1846 there were 16 members. l high priest, 2 elders, 1 priest A H. White was the branch president. John Porter, president of the northeast portion of Wisconsin wrote on September 17, 1849, “we visited Waukesha on the 15th and found the brethren there firm in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.” He reorganized the branch with Almon White, Henry Moon, Edwin Higley, Jesse Lacy, Nelson Higley. Two were baptized at the time. Most members lived in Brookfield, township 7 range 20 east. Later, Edmund Briggs recorded, “In Waukesha, Wisconsin, we visited eight families of the old saints…all cousins of mine; …were old members of the church all living there. We then went north of Waukesha eight miles and found some more of the old members of the church, and in Milwaukee visited …several other families in the city. They were all expecting to move to the state of Iowa in the fall. In Racine, we visited ...three other families." E. C. Briggs Autobiography. notes: Not sure of the relationship between the Poplar Creek and Prairieville Branches during the Strang Era. Which included A.H. White and members in Brookfield Township? White represented both branches at the October 1846 conference, so they were clearly separate.
