5 Feb 1838: Pres. David Whitmer and counselors removed from presidency of the Church in Zion. 10 Feb 1838: Thomas B. Marsh and David W. Patten appointed presidents pro tempore of the "Church in Zion" at Far West, occasionally called a stake. In April, Marsh is sustained as sole President pro tem (replacing the excommunicated presidency), with Patten and Brigham Young as his "assistant presidents." Bishop Partridge and high council continued.
