description:On July 11, 1894, a branch was organized known as the Boyne City Branch, by James H. Peters and John J. Cornish, Brother Peters presiding, and John J. Cornish secretary.Saints' Herald, vol. 41, pp. 129-131. Boyne City is the county seat of Charlevoix County, and is the place where nearly all the disciples of Mr. J. J. Strang settled after the dispersion from the Island; but few of them remaining there; some of whom have united with the Reorganized Church...Bro. John Hanson, Sister Jamison; Boyne City, Elder Francis M. Cooper went to Boyne City and did some preaching and baptized four persons.Two-day meetings were held. The church at Boyne City, purchased from the Methodist people sometime ago, was now all paid for, and on the 28th day of November, 1898, it was dedicated by John J. Cornish, John A. Grant offering the dedicatorial prayer. John J. Cornish continued preaching for a few evenings afterward. The Ladies' Aid did the largest part of the work of raising the money to liquidate the debt. Brother John Schreur was ordained to the office of elder by John J. Cornish and Jacob Kaplinger on November 13, 1898. ?
