description:Initially, the West Jordan Ward was centered in the Taylorsville/North Jordan area, with the current West Jordan area around Gardner's Mill as the "Jordan Mills Branch of West Jordan Ward." When Archibald Gardner was ordained as bishop, the mill area became the core of the ward, and a dependent branch was organized at North Jordan, which became a separate ward in 1877.
