description: Title page and first few pages are missing, but this appears to be a minute book for branch council meetings; nowhere in the record is the name of the branch mentioned, nor are there any geographic clues, although several of the members are known to have been living in the Alton Illinois area at this time. An entry in Horace Eldredge's diary says that Thomas Hunt was the president of Coal Branch, north of Alton.
