description: In 1879, Elder Joseph Argyle organized a branch here with 9 members. Local member John Lancaster served as the first president. Within a year the branch grew to 19 members. It remained at about that size until 1884 when it grew to about 50. After a mob attack on August 10, 1884, the branch dwindled as members left for safer places. By November 1884 the branch had been dissolved.?
