description: All of the saints in the Winter Quarters/Kanesville area were organized into companies of 50 and 10 in February 1848, even if they were not planning to emigrate that season. Several of the companies were organized within named branches, evidence of their existence and membership. Most others were probably also organized geographically for convenience, but do not say where.
