notes: Bishop was first ordained 1852-08-04, but unclear if this made it a modern ward; the Presiding Elder still appeared to function and it was still occasionally called a branch. The Palmyra branch records say that the "Spanish Fork Ward" was divided on 1853-03-22, but it is called a branch just before and after this date, so the names "branch" and "ward" appear to have been used interchangeably. By 1860 it is consistently called a ward.
