description:Frank Hackett of North Freedom, Sauk County organized the Evergreen branch, and was the first branch president of the branch. He served as West Wisconsin District president until 1894. <br/>Members came from many parts of the middle of Wisconsin. Some came from the old Langlade area while the Sawleys lived in Lincoln Township while the Hancocks lived at Tomah. Members also came from the Webster branch. The branch was organized in the Sawley house and in 1893 a log building was built three miles west of Valley Junction. On April 23, 1898 a lot of 1 1/4 acres was purchased in Valley Junction as a site for the church and a cemetery. It was completed in 1902. <br/>Valley Junction June 9 1898 LDS held a conference Sat & Sun in new church building. Some drove a team 120 miles away from here. Nov 11 1899 Mormon Conference The annual conference of the Latter Day Saints of the district comprising Northern WI will be held at Valley Jct Dec 9th & 10th.
