description:Originally raised by George P. Dykes among Scandinavian immigrants. Reorganized 23 October 1844 by apostles; still called Norway Branch, but has a president (G.P. Dykes) and bishop (R. Miller), and a location designated for a new church town, so there was probably an intent for it to become a stake. This organization seems to have survived for about a year, until the remaining members appear to have changed their allegiance to Jesse Strang. The members who did go West, such as future Sanpete stake president Canute Peterson, formed the nucleus of the very successful missionary program in Denmark and Sweden years later.
