description: Alpheus Cutler and his followers returned to Iowa, where they founded Manti in 1851. Two additional Cutlerite colonies were planted nearby. For the Cutlerite church, disaster struck on April 6, 1860, when Joseph Smith III was ordained president of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His missionaries preached and won many of the flock into the Reorganized branch. Buckley Burnham Anderson was ordained an Elder of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on May 6, 1863 at Manti. Alpheus Cutler died on June 10, 1864 at Manti and was buried at the Manti Cemetery.   (started: 1865, source: Fletcher history of Cutlerites)
