description: The location of this branch is identified by Levi Jackman as being four miles past Paris, on the road to Terre Haute, over several streams and marshlands. There they found Brother Thomas Guymon, the only member in the area, who had been baptized by Robert Rathburn sometime earlier. Levi Jackman and Caleb Baldwin came to Brother Guymon's home in June of 1835, held meetings for about a month in this area, baptizing about a dozen members, including several of the Guymon family. Thomas Guymon was ordained a Priest, and made the leader of this small congregation. In 1836 on his return to Missouri, Levi Jackman called it the Clear Creek branch, which is the same name used by Thomas Marsh to refer to the area when he passed through in 1835. Clear Creek is located to the south of where Levi Jackman originally stayed and preached, though the center of the congregation may have moved there with the various baptisms. ?
