description: Initially (1861), The Logan city wards were merely teachers districts within a single Logan Ward, each having a president. In 1875, they were at least partially separated into modern-like wards, with separate quorums and auxilliary organizations. By this time, Benjamin M. Lewis was an acting bishop, although the 1st Ward did not become a fully independent congregation until he was ordained in 1877.
